in that的用法

in that是一種固定搭配，其意為“因為”，與for the reason that,because 同義，可用于引導原因狀語從句。如：I’m in a slightly awkward position in that he’s not arriving until the 10th.

that用法

1、that用作限定詞

that用作限定詞是指“較遠的人或者物”

eg: Look at that man over there. 瞧那邊的那個男子。

I was living with my parents at that time.那時候我跟父母住在一起。

That incident changed their life.那次事故改變了他媽的生活。

2、that作代詞用

1）用于指代前面提到過的想法或情形

eg: They said you wanted to talk to me. Why was that?

2）為避免重復前面已提及到的名詞

eg：A recession like that of 1973-74 could put one in ten American companies into bankruptcy. 一場想1973到1974年那樣的經濟衰退會使1/10的美國公司破產。

3）用于識別身份或詢問他人身份

eg: That's my wife you were talking to.

3、that引導從句

1）引導定語從句(代替先行詞在從句中充當主語或者賓語)

eg: Do you like the book that I lent to you？ 你喜歡我借給你的書嗎？

2)引導名詞性從句（只起連接作用不充當任何成分）

a. 引導主語從句：

eg: That he passed the driving test made us very happy.

他通過駕 照考試讓我們非常開心。

b. 引導賓語從句

eg: I know that he is an intelligent and hard-working boy.

我知道他是一個勤奮又努力的男孩。

c. 引導表語從句

eg: My decision is that all of us are to start at 6 o'clock tomorrow morning.

d. 引導同位語從句

eg: I have a feeling that one day we will succeed.
